I made a brace for Black Cherry Whisniak's foot today

Post by BendyMom »

she has tendon contractures in one hind foot that keep her toes bent. i've been doign stretching exercises and have gotten them too loosen up some. earlier today i used a half a popsicle stick, rolled cotton and vetwrap to make a brace to hold the toes straight.
she didn't even notice. toodling around like nothing is different.

next is to figure out a way to brace her other hind leg in a more functional position. that leg is actually about the same as one of butterbean's legs, same limp foot, same inability to extend fully(not enough skin), but she has better strength than he does. she can actually "jump" using her knees. i've been pondering and pondering how to do this. i want to keep it as simple as possible so it doesn't draw her attention.

we will see.

I am convinced now she is NOT a spinal injury. This is a birth defect, same as Butterbean.
