Double Cruciate tear in Hind legs

Post by Lea »

I just got back from the vet today with my 8 year old Siberian Husky Dasha. My family took her to the vet to be put down because she has torn the ACL of both of her back legs and cannot walk. We decided not to euthanize her because we wanted to try surgery to see if she can recover. However, as a Husky we worry about her stubborness and her desire to move and further aggrivate her injuries. I would like to build her a cart so that she can go out for walks during her recovery time and decrease the chances that she will become antsy from being too immobile. I cannot afford a professional cart and thanks to some websites detailing homemade carts I am going to attempt making my own. I only have two weeks to complete it before going to college for the year and I would highly appreciate any tips for building carts or aspects of professional carts that people have liked.

You will probably want to see http://groups.yahoo.com/group/orthodogs/ as well. I'm GLAD she wasn't put down!! Cart dogs can have great lives, too!
