Can you help Us?

Post by zleepan »

We have recently had surrendered to us a female pomeranian - aged approximately 8 years whose owner has been admitted into care with dementia. She has had the dog since it was about 6 months old after rescuing it from an abusive situation. In this previous home it is evident that the dog suffered an injury to the tendon in the rear leg. This damage has been degenerative and the leg is not useless and bent back behind the dog's bottom. As a consequence she cannot get is out of the way when she defecates and the foot looks red and sore. The vet has said that as well as an amputation she needs dental work and possibly two teeth pulled, and for all of this work he has quoted us approximately $1000. We are a small rescue with limited funds and we know that we will not re-coup anywhere near this for her adoption. I am not a fool and realise that putting her to sleep maybe our only option but she is a really nice dog. She has a great personality and a wonderful happy disposition. She loves people and other small dogs and the only issue I have seen so far is that she hates windscreen wipers in the car and barks at them if they are on. Please don't judge me or our group, but if you can offer a solution, a cheaper vet or another option please post to this topic or feel free to message me. The vet also tells me that she is up to date with her vaccinations and he has been recommending other work for some time, but maybe the message has not been getting through as her illness has manifested
It is very necessary financial assistance

Hello and welcome! What is the name of your rescue and where are you located? Are you a 501 3c? Who is the vet who will be treating this little one? Funds can be sent directly to the clinic which will help you gather funds more easily.

The paypal account only says Financial Assistance. How is the little one doing?

The same request is posted on several other forums under different usernames.

More than one email address is used, including one which shows up on a Russian website in reference to online c_asino gambling.

More than one PayPal account is given.

Below are some screenshots from other sites, including a Russian site where the same email address (auto11800298@canada-11.com) was used to post about a dog on the Russian website. The members were suspicious and asked questions and pointed out discrepancies, and the poster (using the name Natali) asked the admin to remove her post, after which the admin went on a rant about scammers, with reference to the email address used for this dog, and advised people to report such things to PayPal. Here is a link for the Russian thread translated into English, the admin remarks are on page 2 of the thread.

In this post they are asking for money for food using the same PayPal email used in the IMOM post, but they give their location as Boston, Massachusetts when they said on IMOM (and here) that they are on the other side of the US in Castle Rock, Washington.

NOTE: THE ORIGINAL POST ABOUT THE DOG THAT THIS TOPIC IS ABOUT, WAS POSTED ON AN AUSTRALIAN FORUM BY A RESCUER WHO HAS BEEN A MEMBER THERE FOR 2 YEARS AND POSTED OVER 200 POSTS. IT WAS THEN COPIED FROM THAT FORUM BY A SCAMMER AND POSTED ON OTHER FORUMS, INCLUDING HERE. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE AUTHOR OF THE ORIGINAL POST ABOUT THE LITTLE DOG, COCO, AND SHE INFORMED US THAT COCO HAS RECEIVED HER AMPUTATION AND HAS BEEN REHOMED BY LITTLE LEGS RESCUE IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

Below you can see the original post.
