Mari, who has many critters with disabilities and who posts here as mumpkees, is in Houston and has been without power since Hurricane Ike. The situation may not change for several more weeks, and they need ice, which is selling for $2.50 a pound. They do have some banking services, so a friend is collecting for Mari and the critters via PayPal and then will get them the check. Poor Mari I can't imagine being without electricity.
Mari has such a big heart and has so many kitties with disabilities. $2.50 seems like such a small amount but so necessary when you are without power.
Critters is it difficult to get a Paypal account? I have always thought that I should have one but have never inquired into getting one.
I'm sure Mari would appreciate any amount that is donated. /Jean

With just a credit/debit card you can easily set up a "semi-account" to do something like this. One good thing is that if you ever go to a more real account the time will go all the way back to this one.

It's not ice, but anything, I imagine, critters, short of sending her a gasoline card, I think I would be able to order either a walmart or petsmart or petco gift E card, and since getting around is so impossible, she could use the shipping feature?

Could you check with her, and PM me her preferred vendor as well as her real name so I can get her an e-gift card?

I can't get with her directly because they don't have phone or internet; she texts Marissa every week or so, who emails the rest of us. I'll try to find out, but it'll take awhile.

so far all she's mentioned specifically is the ice--and we think she was sort of kidding. which, of course, didn't stop us....

a check is going out tomorrow, which'll give them something to work with--i'll try to make sure we find out what else they really need. (i'm thinking that catnip would help.)

just keep sending light and love, too, as some of the critters are not handling the stress overly well, as you can well imagine.

a little bird has just informed me that mari shops frequently at walmart (this is not a commercial), and that gift cards there would probably work quite well..... rumor has it that petsmart might also be along her route home at night.
