Help Moss Walk

Post by slshepherds »

On December 21st I saw a post in the urgent section of this board (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=15312) about a special needs dog at risk of euthanasia if help couldn't be found (he was suddenly unable to walk after heartworm treatment).

I am an independent rescuer, helping a few special needs dogs as I am able, paying for their medical needs, adopting out those who are adoptable, providing hospice care for those who are not. I heard about Moss and went to the shelter on Christmas Eve to see if I could get him more time ... I couldn't leave him lying on a cold floor, unable to move more than a couple of steps.

Moss is currently under the care of the neurology service at NC State vet school. He has had labwork run, x-rays and muscle biopsies taken, and is on steroids and pain medications. Moss is starting to respond, but we still need to find out what the underlying problem is so we can address it and design a physical therapy program to help Moss walk comfortably and as normally as possible.

To continue to help Moss I need your help. Any donations will be gratefully received and will go straight to pay Moss's bills. Spreading the word about Moss would also be very helpful. Moss has a Facebook page and a ChipIn that will document his journey back to health.
