Please help Kerry

Post by westminster pet sanctuary »

I sent out this plea yesterday for this dog coming into our care today at noon. Please if you could even send $1.00 towards her surgery..it would HELP so much Surgery will take place this week by a specialist at Alta Vista Animal Hospital..So far we have collected nearly $500.00. As a Sanctuary we DO NOT QUALIFY for insurance. we rely on animal lovers with big hearts who realise just because an animal has a special need..they still have a right to live!..really $1.00 would make such a difference. I am sorry if this is inappropriate..but we are desperate

As you know with our Sanctuary, quality of life means everything, this tiny little girl(only weighs 12lbs) will have it once she has her surgery...we will not let her die just because she has a "special need" right now. After surgery, she is expected to lead a perfectly normal life, and is fully adoptable. they believe she may be a sheltie/spaniel mix or a JRT/spaniel mix..no matter the breed, she needs help. Please feel free to cross post far and wide.

Just ONE DOLLAR (heck we are so desperate we will even issue a tax receipt for a dollar) is all we are asking for.

thank you, and please see story below about Kerry, the very special girl..I will try to post pictures of her in the photo gallery (never done that before..but her picture is on the front page of our website!!)

Our Sanctuary received an urgent plea (below..edited for privacy) on January 24th, from an SPCA not too far from Ottawa. A little girl they named Kerry. Kerry was due to be euthanised January 25th, however the staff and volunteers knew how sweet and special this little girl was and called us, asking our Sanctuary for help. She requires surgery to fix a possible perforated hernia which causes her to leak feces constantly. After the surgery she will lead a normal healthy life..with of course a good diet, and a new forever home. Surgery is expected to run around $3000.00 (including her spay)

This gal is worth every dime! Our Sanctuary will be picking her up Saturday January 27th at noon. She will be seen by a specialist at Alta Vista on Tuesday followed by surgery.

Please can anyone donate anything towards saving this girl? If 300 people gave $10 (tax deductable CRA BN 86055 2892 RR0001) or 3000 people gave $1.00 this girl will have the second chance she deserves and in our books EARNED.

Donations can be made via paypal,(see our website at www.westminsterpetsanctuary.com) or just go to www.paypal.com and put in our email address regular email address at kxo156@aol.com (apparently paypal timed out yesterday when just hitting our paypal button..no idea why maybe it is fixed now) or via mail

Look into her eyes, and tell Kerry she is not worth it...we simply cannot!

After surgery and a little bit of foster care, Kerry will be available for adoption. She is around 5-6 months old.

Any questions feel free to contact us..our Sanctuary was built on the belief every animal deserves a second chance, despite a special medical need they may have..Little Kerry should not be tossed away, simply because she has a special need right now.

Please help us help her! Feel free to crosspost.

Hi Kelli,
Here are the details & photos of Kerry - thank you so much for taking her and everything!

Kerry is 6 months old and weighs 12 pounds. This little girl was dropped off at the shelter as a stray & we noticed she had feces coming out of her constantly. The vet said she has has a condition which can only be helped by surgery. She is a little ball of energy and loves to go for walks in the snow!

Feel free to touch base if you have any more questions.
Thank you again!
Yours,

Erin

Kelli, have you tried the Financial Aid stickies?
A local rescuer blogs regularly at www.blufftontoday.com and she has built quite a support base. When Moose and Sammy were turned over to her, in agony and sick, she posted their story and photos on the blog. Over $3,000 was raised almost immediately and given to Riverwalk Animal Hospital, where Karen now has a credit balance.
I have always felt the power of the press was one underutilized tool in rescue. Can you join a local blog for your local paper and tell these stories there?
Unforutunately so many of us are in the same dire straits you are that we don't have enough $$ for our own critters (sorry critters) so please don't think we don' t care. We do. We absolutely do.
