poopybutt house

Post by Bendy Kitty »

yep, that's what we are!
Mom exchanged 4 healthy fosters for 5 poopybutt ones yesterday. the rescue ppl are so happy to have found someone who isn't freaked out by it. (the foster homes who had these guys were at wits end)
they'd been treated and tested for everything under hte sun. mom gave them a 24hr fast (lets their GI systems calm down) and they just finished their boiled chicken and broth for lunch. One of them has a really irritated butt, some scald too. so yesterday and today mom gave her a little butt bath, then put an e-collar on her and smeared Desitin on her poor sore butt. She is a little better today, not nearly so raw and swollen but still very sore looking.
poor girl. she is good about getting a bath, complains and holds onto mom's arm with her fron tpaws but not one scratch or bite or hiss or growl!

What I want to know is when I can expect my boiled shrimpie soup.

I think you should tell mommy to get right on that or you'll give her the "stink-eye" and no purrs for her!

My 21-year-old cat, Rowdy, has some fecal incontinence problems and I don't think she licks her butt anymore, and sometimes she drags her butt on the floor to help dislodge a stuck turd. I had been wiping her butt with plain soft single ply unscented white toilet paper moistened with warm tap water. I noticed she had a little sore on her butt, so I showed it to the vet, who recommended malacetic wet wipes:

They helped immediately. There was less redness and swelling shortly after the first use. They are extremely soothing. I tested it on a tiny cut on my hand and it was instantly soothing. I now wipe her butt with those, then rinse with the wet tissue paper.

The price varies, depending on where you buy it from. I have been getting it from the vet. If you search the internet, the best prices I have seen are $8.45 for 25 wipes or $17.00 for 100 wipes. Here is a link with various sellers, sizes, and prices:

Re: poopybutt house - progress

Post by Bendy Kitty »

mom is making good progress with the poopybutt cats.
first thing she did was fast them all for 24hrs to let their guts rest. then they had just boiled chicken for a couple days and now they alos get some canned I/D with babyfood sweet potatoes mixed in (pumpkin works too). and guess what
they all came with watery poop
they all now have at least pudding poop
there is one lil girl, Gabana, who is really tugging mom's heart strings. her poor lil butt was so scalded by poop and urine, it was all swollen. mom has been bathing her, putting assorted creams on her, having her wear an e-collar, and she is gettin better.
the scald is healing tho it will take her poor lilbut awhile to calm down.

she is reminding mom of 'Gumie. she is so good abou tbeing bathed, she doesn't mind the ecollar much and holds her head still to have it put on. she waves her paws and cries when she is upset but hasn't tried to bite or scratch even once.
then, today om was sitting on the floor with Gabana in her lap, in front of a space heater (which is how she dries kitties with sore butts) and Gabana reached up to put her paws on mom's chin and started washing next ot mom's nose in the same spot 'Gumie liked.
poor mom cried all over Gabana, who didn't mind at all.

this lil kitty is a Panluek survivor, a month ago she tested positive for both coccidea and giardia. she has definitly been through the ringer! the rescue ppl are worried that she will never be very healthy, but we will see. we are all purrin for her.

she is a solid buff color kitty wwith a lighter tummy, but no stripes. mom will have to get picts soon.

Poor little Gabana! I'm so worried about Buddy, and I've been thinking about Gumie for weeks. I'm sitting here crying; I hope poor little Gabana can make it!
