Eva Cassidy

Post by GabrielDeafBlindPupFamily »

Nothing whatsoever to do with critters (sorry critters) Driving to work the other, my local "other fav" (hope Mark aint reading) driveguy played Wade in the Water by Eva Cassidy and proceeded to tell her story: She was a landscaper who turned to backup vocalist and then went out on her own, refusing to be pidgeonholed into a style. She sang this song with so much soul and it is a local Gullah favorite. She also sang the dickens (in the tuber's words) out of everything she set her eyes on. I have found her website, her youtubes and I am blown away by this life that ended much too early from aggressive melenoma. She didn't find fame until after she died, and her fan base is growing whenever you hear her. After you listen to Wade In The Water ( a local favorite) listen to Danny Boy (Tissue alert!) and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. You like me, will be searching for her on amazon. Her voice has changed the very dimension of my life. Listen, Enjoy:

Here's Songbird for your listening pleasures:

Visit Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Danny Boy, but tissue alert.

This is the voice of an Angel. God's own. She died so many years ago, without recognition. She comes alive today. Within each of us.

Me, too, Lisa, Meee too. Been to her website and will look for recordings at amazon. The voice of an angel. And never found her fame until after she died. Wade in the Water is absolutely delicious! As is everything I have listened to.

Well. Wow. You have to visit the story ABC News did about her in 2001, after she had been dead for 5 years. She died at the age of 33, very quickly, but performed one last time as she was propped up on stage. What A Wonderful World.
