 I found this article funny. While I've NEVER had a problem with somebody eating only human food, for instance, I'd never, in a million years, evict my monsters from the bed!! Personally, I think she's WAY over the top here.

I so admire Cesar Milan, why if I were 50 years younger and he wasn't married with children .... He can just thank his lucky stars!
But I agree. Most of the animals in shelters are because of behaviour. Which Cesar says is not the dog's fault, it is ours. We have failed to establish our alpha, our rules and a complete lack of basic training. We then find the dogs uncontrollable, and bingo off they go to the gas chamber (yes, gas chambers are still widely used, they are economical, legal and painful)
My dogs know they are dogs, except for GabrielDeafBlindPup. He has no idea what a dog is, but he does know basic obedience, and he has been corrected with a tap on the butt, which always sends him right up into the air, it surprises him so, he then comes running looking for me to say, HEY, someone just swatted me on the butt.

I agree that people have to set acceptable behavior (and that goes for pets and for children). This should be part and parcel with being a responsible person that has someone depending on them.

In our house what is acceptable behavior is our dogs (who are our babies) to sleep with us. This doesn't mean that they think they are alpha... that distinction goes along with with having thumbs.
