Unbelievable - Dog rescuer being prosecuted!

Post by BethT »

I just saw this story on TV a few minutes ago. A suffering chained dog was dying and rescued by a woman. The woman will not tell where the dog is because she does not want to give it back to the owners. She (the rescuer) has been arrested and being prosecuted for theft. Check out this website it shows video of the poor dog chained and video of the dog now.

Yeah, I heard about this one.... Too sad... But I would do the same thing and hope that someone somewhere picked up the gauntlet...

The story of Tammy Grimes has been a hot issue for a week now. She lives in Pennsylvania, where governor Ed Rendell is a very animal friendly person. I have been suggesting to people to E-mail him or write him in any way to help this woman out.

By the way, I adopted Johanna from Lauren Smith of dogsdeservebetter.com, the organization that Tammy is head of.

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG it just angers the HECK out of me when people abuse their animals then WANT THEM BACK?!?

I hope Tammy is able to get the dog made a ward of the humane society through the courts, then she could go adopt it if she wanted.

Paul do you have the Gov.'s email address?

I just saw this story on Inside Edition for the first time last night. My Local news is out of Philadelphia and I have not seen it reported on any of my local stations.

Paul, I did not know that you got Johanna through someone at Dogs Deserve Better. What a great organization. This is the first that I have heard of them.

Cindi and anyone else - here is a link to Governor Rendell's contact information.

Re: Interesting town rule

Post by SandyNY »

This is first time I saw this "rule" in a town news flyer. Since it is often hard to get people fined or even warned when they leave a dog tied out, i found this a unique way to get action. Because you know, if the dog has filthy water, it is still considered water, and all that nonsense.
"In closing, please remember that in the Town of Marcy, your animal cannot be out before 6 a.m. or after 10 p.m. it cannot be barking continuously for more than a 45-minute period. Both of these rules, if resulting in a complaint to the dog control officer, can result in a town court appearance ticket, which may result in a fine."

They actually took pics of Doogie as he lay chained in his back yard. My local paper in PA says that the owners insisted that doogie had congestive heart failure and was ill and old.

See pics at the link above.

Thank you for posting Mr. Rendell's information. He is a very nice man, I had the chance to meet him at an Eagles football game years ago when he was the mayor of Philadelphia. That was when I used to live down there.

I got Johanna from Lauren Smith (some of you may remember her, she used to post to the old board) from southern Maine. The Dogs Deserve Better organization is a great group doing great work.

No matter what was wrong with Doogie (old, sick, whatever) that does NOT explain or excuse what the video shows. THE FILM DOES NOT LIE!!

yes i saw that and my anger is still as strong as the day i veiwed it. not only should they not get that dog back, they should not be allowed to ever own any kind of pet.
wonder how they treat their kids?
i have went to bat for a lot of dogs in my town. i am not liked by a lot of dog owners, but ask me if i care? lol
they don't treat them right, i go into fighting mode.
surely justice will pervail in this case. i wouldn't disclose the location either, i am so proud of her.
hugs,
