Hi Bendy!
Our organization is in the process of trying to find a new system to use for our community forum. Unfortunately, our current set up does give us the kind of security measures we feel are necessary to maintain the level of professionalism and integrity that we want. While members have to be approved to begin posting, they do not have to meet with any approval guidelines to register. Due to this issue, our forum has been swamped daily with registrations by spammers worldwide, most of which are porn related. It has been an exhausting endeavor behind the scenes deleting all of these memberships and not a very good use of our time and resources. I receive hundreds of bogus memberships weekly and its finally gotten to be ridiculous and unacceptable. Due to the very small administrative staff (primarily one person!), I have made the decision to take the forum down for the time being and research other options. I am saddened it has come to this, but truly cannot exhaust this many hours daily on this kind of maintenance and monitoring. We miss our forum and the conversations of so many dear friends. Any updates about the progress of our search on other options will be posted on our website. In the meantime, please know we're all thinking of you and encourage you to post on Handicapped Pets, which is a FANTASTIC forum!

thanks for the quick reply, hope you can find an option that works for you. I will really miss the forums if they go away. maybe you can steer people here who need/want to post about their kitties? i know they'd be welcome.

The Mooseheart Mumpkees miss the forum too! CIC has helped several kitties get the medical treatment they needed.

But we mumpkees know what a pain 'spammers' and 'trolls' can be. MomMom is on several yahoo groups and one disabled kitty group she is on had to create a new group with strict moderation because it got so bad.

Pawds crossed that you can find a more secure set up. We miss talking to our CIC friends. But you are right - handicappedpets is a GREAT forum too.
