Book: Shorty Stories - a dog and her famous wheels

Post by sunspirit »

This looks like a great book for kids - and adults who are kids at heart. Is she a dachsund? I can't really tell but I thought of Paul as soon as I saw her picture & book.

You can see her picture at the bottom of this page:

This is the wheelchair that Tucker has.

I have seen this book before, but I have not read it.

I believe that Shorty is a long-haired dachshund.

Darn, they don't have it at my public library. I'd love to see that!

Carol - maybe you could ask your library to get it. Also the title is Shorty Stories: A Story about a Dog and *Her* Famous Wheels (instead of *his*). I ordered it and am waiting impatiently for it to get here.

Shorty's Book

Post by Shorty »

Hello, Shorty's mommy here. And the Author of her book, Shorty Stories A Story about a Dog and her famous Wheels. Sorry it took me so long to find this forum. Shorty and I have been reading our book to anyone that will listen.

Shorty is a Doxie/Beagle Mix, and an all around great gal! She loves when we go to schools and hospitals to read her book, it is like she knows what her purpose in life is like a human.

Wanda - glad you could drop by and join us, and let me know what kind of dog Shorty is. Tell Shorty I'm sorry for mistaking her for a boy. On Dewey's website they said she was a "he" ("check out his book") so I got confused.

That must be fun going to schools to read to the kids. Tucker loves to schmooze with people. The first time I took him out in public in his chair he wanted to hang out in the playground with the kids. His chair scared one little 2 yo.

Maybe I can get a pic signed by you and Shorty :-)

Shorty Stories

Shorty is a Doxie/Beagle mix. She is 8 years old. And regardless of the wheelchair she is extremely healthly. Happy. And very active.

What happened to Shorty? We don't often get famous authors around here; the last was Jude, of Faith the bipod's family.

Oh, duh, found the answer on the Dorrance link. http://dorrance.stores.yahoo.net/shststabdoga.html

I just ordered 2 from Amazon; if I can find out what kind of reading level it has, it might be 3. :D

edit: Amazon has it at a RL of 4-8.

Shorty's Book

Post by Shorty »

Shorty visited an entire neighborhood tonight. One of the local townships had their monthly Town watch with The Dare Program there, and Shorty was their special guest. She loves the attention (and the cake)

Thanks

That sounds like fun! Tucker and I are going to the music in the park tomorrow. I'm sure Tucker will be a big flirt.

I got your book - very cute. It would be fun to read it to kids at schools with Tucker, if that would be okay with you. I could tell them it's a story about Tucker's friend, Shorty :-)
