Can't stand up, back legs too weak. Great Dane owners??

Post by Jenna »

Hello all, I have a 12 year old Great Dane that is now having a difficult time with her hips. She is slipping very easily and she can't get her back end up so we have to be around her all the time to lift her up. We have put carpets over the entire house so she can get around good once she is up, but getting her up can be the challenge. Does anyone have any ideas on this situation...she is my big baby and I am trying everything and anything. She does have a rear harness, but the one I bought from here falls off all the time so I am using one I bought from Bluedog harness, which is pretty decent, but I would like something else because I wonder if the straps hurt her since she is so heavy. Any ideas anyone, anyone a great dane owner???? Thanks so much!

:red: CarolC, among others, has loads of experience with lifting harnesses with a big pupper. You might also want to see the neuro bb, which is hopping today!

There are several harnesses designed to stay on. You might check on these. I have used the Hartman and it is nice.
