Sad,ancient kitty Tricks is gone....

Post by sandyc799 »

She was her usual self yesterday morning.Last night-I got home and she had pottied on herself and just lay in it.Got her all cleaned up and she ate her food and Nutri-Cal as usual.
Spent alot of time brushing and talking to her.She hated the bath, but like the drying part of being wrapped in a towel.
This morning, she ate as usual, came home to check on her instead of eating lunch. She seemed abit more tired and wouldn't eat her food, but ate some Nutri-cal and purred while I petted and talked to her.
This evening, when I got home from work, she was NOT good, her hollering was weak and abnormal.I decided I could no longer put her through anything and called my vet.He met me at his clinic and we let her go to the bridge.I'm okay, just very sad.Trying to wrap my head around the fact that she isn't here anymore. My vet will keep her until tomorrow and my Mom and Brother will take her to a nearby town where she can be cremated.I hope to get her ashes back this week.I'm not sure how often they do the cremations.
You folks have been so wonderful and helpful to me.I just had to let you know.
Thank you for all your help/I appreciate you all very much!

Oh, Sandy....your sweet little grandmother cat...I loved reading about how much you loved her and she loved you. What a beautiful long life she shared with you. Her story is one I will always remember. You know we are all holding you close right now. :grouph:

I cried quite abit.Just missing her.
Thought OKAY,Tricks wouldn't want you to do this.Get to work!(Gotta pay for the after hours vet and the cremation, after all)<so I think I'm doing okay.Sad,but I can handle it.
I work at our local walmart supercenter by the way-walking down past pets and what?! A BIG display of her favorite catfood!I just lost it and had to go to the restroom to recover my composure.
Stupid, that a bunch of canned catfood could set me off,but it did.
This evening,I dozed off on the sofa and jumped up,thinking she was crying and needed me.UGH!
This is gonna take awhile.
Just such a BIG part of my life for sooo very long.
My other cat Nikki looks for her.
Quint my old dog seems abit concerned also.Just gonna take time for all of us,I guess.
Thanks for listening.

Those little things are quite capable for setting us off when we are missing a dear pal. I work in a pet shop and when I lost my Benjamin I couldn't say persian, hymalayan, go near his food, and sometimes senior cat set me off. It sucks...it stopped gradually, but there are still moments when I lose it and that was 3 years ago.

Our kids never really leave our thoughts. So sorry for your loss. :candle:

I have been away from the board this past week or two.

so sorry to read that Tricks has left us, you certainly gave ehr a wonderful life and it sounds like you let her go right when she said she had had enough.
try not to be angry with yourself for being upset over things like cat food displays, it is quite normal to be upset when faced (esp by surprise) with reminders like that.
After Ninga died mom couldn't even look at Nutro food (her favoriet was the little cans of veal flavor) for practically a year.

many bendy purrrrggles to you
we hope another cat will be lucky enough to share a long happy life with you.
