Looking to adopt

Post by target1212 »

My little girl passed away last year. She had ben living for 4 years with being paralyzed from IVDD. I miss her terribly and am looking to take one in need of a home in. I'm fine with expressing bladders along with the daily care needed. Just want to save one in need :-) Hoping for one good with cats and other little dogs though so he/she could join me at work.

Where do you live, and how far would you go to find a dog? And what size/breed would you consider?

I put Special Needs and Dachshund in Petfinder and found these:

http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... d=10494226 in Texas

http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... d=12071485 in Ohio

http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... d=11760905 in Virginia

http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... d=11199278 in Arizona

and I only picked out those where the cart was obvious in the photo (and left out one that didn't like cats.)

Where are you located? Do you happen to be in Oklahoma? Don't know if this pet wil be up for adoption, but have a BENJI dog with nerve damage from a car wreck and can walk but has problems with his back legs. He is so sweet. Just checking to see where you live in case we could meet you sometime. Please respond here and I'll watch for a response from you. Thanks! Jan

SO, my dog Raga is an amazing, recently handicapped dog that I can no longer take care of. I have spent the last year and half doing the best I can but have once again reached a point where I can't keep up with the care of this wonderful dog. It's not so bad, if I were maybe older, didn't have to work 3 jobs or had someone to help me I could certainly keep up the work, but that's not the case. I have contacted all the sanctuaries that I know of to contact, tried to get local pet sitters to help out but nothing is working. I'm posting this for help, ideas, or in the hopes of someone wanting to give him a great few last years.
Raga has a cart for his walks around the neighborhood but mostly just scoots around, loves hanging out in the backyard and playing ball, and is great inside the house just being lazy. Everything about him is still the same, He just can't use his back legs.
Please get in touch with me, thanks very much. This dog has been my best friend and partner in crime for the last 9 years, I want to do the best for him that I can and the situation we're in right now is not fair for either of us, I never have a moment of time and he has to spend too much time alone. I just want him to be okay.
I think it's amazing you're looking for another handicapped pet. I feel like later in my life I will want to do the same thing.
