Finally found the photo of Carl's leggings. All it is is soft foam pipe insulation with industrial strength velcro to hold them in place. Carl also wears Ruff Wear boots on backwards to protect his feet, but from time to time they do come off and we have injuries to deal with.
Nope, carl doesn't use his cart in the house, he's way too big! Terry my new boy has tried getting his cart in the house and even that is really a no go. Carl quite happily swiffers himself round the house. I've never had any problems with lesions caused by him dragging inside, only when he's had some contact with the ground outside.
Sometimes Carl figures out how to extricate himself from objects, but sometimes he doesn't, especially when he is caught in underbrush. Carl was in a cart when I got him so I don't know. I put Bonnie and Terry in carts for the first time and both were up and running within minutes, they never missed a beat! Having said this, I have seen dogs who have not adapted as quickly, backing up or freezing when first put in the cart. As for time in carts, I've never watched the clock, rather looked at the dog and taken them out when they started to slow/tire. Carl can manage about 30 minutes at a time, I know other dogs can go much longer.
