Bladder control question

Post by SchnauzerMom »

My Mini Schnauzer Gino had a FCE on February 10, 2017. He was in emergency for 5 days. The spinal damage happened just below his ribs and he lost deep pain sensation is both rear legs. He came home paralyzed in both rear legs with no bladder or bowel control.

We have been doing water treatment and acupuncture weekly for about 8-10 weeks. We have also done what we can at home to encourage standing. At 7 weeks he had a follow-up appt with the neurologist where she found some deep pain sensation in both rear feet. Gino is so eager to walk again!

My question to everyone is how long did people wait until they saw bladder control starting to come back?

It varies a lot. It can often be 3-6 months, but there have been cases of dogs on this board who regained bladder control later than that. Congratulations on the deep pain sensation returning! Yay!!! :ecstatic:
