hi i bought a training sock for my dog from walkin rear no knuckling... it says he should wear it on 2 to 5 minute walks only. but my vet recommended wearing it a lot. any thoughts as to why they say just use it 2-5 minutes? it stabilizes his foot and keeps him from knuckling..

appreciate any feedback thank you!

Hi crushme22,

:welcome:

I don't know the answer. The website says it was developed by Renee, who is a professional rehab therapist, for use in rehab. If you click the product page, they have a contact form. Go to this link https://www.handicappedpets.com/no-knuc ... ning-sock/# and click where it says "Got questions?>>" and hopefully they will be able to explain.

I imagine the sock would wear out quickly on a normal walk outdoors. A splint would be more durable.

There is also a product that is closer to the training sock but has a rubber sole to be more durable, however it costs a lot more (over $100). It has been on the market for years and you could ask your vet to order it, if you are looking for something to prevent knuckling, that is durable outdoors.

Personally, I'd use it and keep a very frequent eye underneath it, for irritation or sores or the like.
