Young dog with FCE diagnosis

Hi everyone just registered so my just turned 3 years old dog had sudden paralysis 2 days ago while playing in our garden. It presented itself by him suddenly screaming for about 20 seconds and him trying to drag his back end towards me while looking terrified. I thought he’d broken his back at first, it was awful, but luckily my husband was also home (god bless coronavirus for home working!) and we got straight in the car and went to our vets, luckily only ten mins away. Vet instantly mentioned FCE but wanted to rule out anything else so they admitted him for X-rays, high steroid dose etc Yesterday am vet called early to say he was pleasantly surprised to see a tiny bit of movement in one of his hind legs, he also confirmed FCE and said it was lateral, so affecting his right side but still having some affects on the right hand side also. He had helped him wee that am too. We were to go in later and meet with vet and hopefully bring him home as no medical treatment. So last night we moved our mattress into living room to sleep with him and our other elderly dog. He had dinner and weed by himself again before bed with us just supporting the back end as he’s all floppy. He was incredibly restless all night, moaning and groaning like he was unable to get comfy.... is this normal? Anyway I’m pleased to say after keeping me up all night he’s just eaten, had another wee and his first poop! I had to cradle him and hold his tail up but I’m so happy as the incontinence really scares me. My main question to anyone else who has experienced this is do you recommend the hydrotherapy for FCE ? Nate is young fit and loved his fast running so I want to give him the best possible chance of rehab. Anyway that’s my story so far, look forward to connecting with anyone else rehabbing dogs at home.
