If you're having trouble with the 4" wheels -- either they are not turning well or the locknut is coming off, this post addresses that.
The Locknut:
The locknut has a small plastic piece inside it that keeps it from coming off the bolt that is used for an axle.
RIGHT:
Notice how the top of the locknut is even with the top of the bolt.
WRONG:
If the locknut does not hold then it is possible that the plastic locking portion is worn. It can be replaced by calling HandicappedPets.com or by purchasing a 1/4 x 20 locknut at a local hardware store.
If the wheel does not turn freely when the locknut is even with the top of the bolt, it is likely that one of the spacer bolts on the other side of the wheel is not tight.
CORRECT:
WRONG:
There is too much space at the arrows.
We suggest you remove the wheel, tighten both spacer nuts, then replace the wheel.
The Correct order of parts to assemble the wheel is
Hex Bolt (Hex Head Cap SCrew, Full Thread, 1/4 x 20 x 2 1/2 inches)
Flat Washer (1/4 inch)
Wheel Strut
Lock Washer (1/4 x 20 lockwasher)
Hex Nut (1/4 x 20 Hex Nut)
Hex Nut (1/4 x 20 Hex Nut)
Flat Washer (1/4 inch washer)
Wheel
Flat Washer (1/4 inch washer)
Hex Locknut (1/4 x 20 Hex Lock Nut)
Small 4" wheels too loose or too tight
