My dog tore his acl yesterday. We have a consulting appointment with surgeons tomorrow and will likely opt for surgery (6 year old dog, great health otherwise...and thank god for pet insurance).
He's pretty low key, but he does like freedom of movement, and lives for his walks, so I was trying to think about how to accommodate that while limiting the risk to the other acl during recovery.
I will of course ask the vets about this, but curious if this is recommended for such situations or if anyone has experience in similar situations?
Thank you.

Re: Walkin' Wheels for ACL surgery recovery?
I think it's a GREAT idea! If he's big or heavy, I'd even call it a wise idea, because it could be hard on the humans who would otherwise have to help him during his recovery.

They also make braces to support the "knee" to prevent injury.
See the section on K9 Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Here is one that supports both knees (Canadian).
