INCONTINENT PADS

Post by marilynb »

I am in need of some waterproof pads for Wally who is incontinent and paralyzed. I need to be able to wash and dry them in the washer and dryer. Has anyone ordered these from somewhere? Thank you for all of your support. Everyone is so helpful.

Washable kinds can be bought where human supplies are--places like pharmacies, healthcare stores, etc. You might also adapt or cut waterproof mattress covers, especially if you sew. Yard sales can be good sources as well, esp. big sales sponsored by churches, etc. Families where someone has died after a long illness may be willing to GIVE them to you just to find them a home.

Hi Marilyn,

Here is a message from Marni about this subject. She folded a baby diaper and held it on with a male wrap:

There are a number of sources of male wraps, which would give the waterproof barrier you are looking for. Links to several brands recommended by people here are in this article:

Marni used a diaper pail with Simon's diapers. I have used one, Dianne has used one, but many people don't remember how to set one up. Here is an article explaining how to use a diaper pail, in case you are too young to remember. ;)

I can't remember, are you expressing but it's not enough?

I saw reusable pads recently, within the last 2 weeks or so, and I remember wondering how they would work because it said they were held in place by friction, but I haven't a clue where I saw them. I tried all the likely websites where they might have been but struck out. If I find them, I'll let you know, however I wonder if they would really be absorbent enough?

Diaper pads. The rubber ones covered in flannel.
I use shower curtains or table cloths from the dollar store and cover with sheet, or bathmat. All can be thrown in washer, easy peasy!
