I was curious if anybody ever made the ramp from this book? http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-Week ... r-mr-title

Are you talking about the auto ramp? I haven't, but it looks like a very simple design, nothing exceptional. I have never seen that book but it looks interesting.

I'm working on building "walls" for the end of my bed so dogs having seizures won't fall off and Candy can't jump. I wonder if that's in the book?

Hmm. No, but there's a really nice platform dog bed with sides; you might be able to adapt the sides on a larger scale to the size of your bed.

I did make the bed frame. Here are a couple of photos.

In the first photo there is Jack with epilepsy and Candy who is paraplegic. The railing is to keep the seizure dogs from going off the bed during a seizure and to keep Candy from jumping off. It's shorter on my side to allow me access to my own bed!

Nice job! I'd say you'd HAVE to have left the walls lower on your side. LOL!!

You know, that's a good idea--my mattresses like to slide off the L side, and that would SURE take care of it!!

It does hold the mattress in place, which was a problem here, too. It would not be as easy to do without a platform bed, though. Although since non-platform beds are lower, it might not be as big an issue. It turns out to have the added advantage of keeping the corgis from jumping off (the AB corgis.)

Our bed is veryvery short--about knee-tall or so--which is PERFECT for us. Ari has a tiny set of stairs at the foot of the bed, which lets her slide through the bars (she's the only one that'll fit, and she likes narrow little spots to keep her from falling over :D ). I think I'll try a board on the L side, maybe sitting on the floor, to test the idea before I do a "permanent" rig (which will probably entail my drill and a handful of zippy strips; I'm not the carpenter you are!!).
