Heres a link on how to turn a human wheelchair into one for a dog.

You could probably get a human one free on Freecycle. I'm not sure it would be tall enough for a Dane, though.

It does seem to be a brilliant idea, and wheelchairs are frequently available through Freecycle or Craigslist.
