What a beautiful dog!!!! I work at a vet's office and we have a few patients that have loss the use of their back legs. When they board with us, I make a sling, like you are doing. I make it long enough that it can go around my shoulder and around their mid body. It supports them, plus they can take the lead somewhat. I have used the stuff from WalMart that looks like fake fur, its very soft on their skin. It's just a homemade contraption, but you might try it. Let me know if I can help in any way
