Sheba's quad cart
Re: Homemade Carts
Hi,
This is wonderful information! The parts for carts are not expensive...it's the labor you pay for. I think more people would build their own carts if they knew how to. When we got Sheba's second cart (quadriplegic), it did not work for Sheba so my husband and I re-designed it. We added extra bars on the top to support the slings we used to support Sheba. I cut up my son's wet suit to use as a sling. Neoprene is wonderful material as it is not rough against the skin. I also used a little bit of canvas underneath the chest area of the wet suit sling to prevent it from ripping. (Sheba was a large German Shepherd.)
The cart was great for the amount of time Sheba was able to be in it.
