Mimosa is a very sick kitty right now

Post by Bendy Kitty »

she is our very brain damaged girl, so its always harder when she is sick than just any cat.
This is a bad GI bug that two of the other cats here had a couple weeks ago.
Mimosa is now on day 2 of not being able to hold down food, she can keep down pedialyte and water and tums is helping her a little to not feel naseous all the time.

she just had another bm, not quite as watery but OMG the smell!

we're using some Purina pro-biotic stuff that the vet gave us to try out, maybe it is helping. hard to know. used that when the two others were sick with this thing, too.

at least we haven't had to run fluids (paws and fingers crossed!).

Had a good snuggle session with her, which is hard because many times she gets "brain overload" when being patted, but if we are veryveryvery gentle we can work up to it.

poor girl.

Good luck with little Mimosa.
She is in very competent, caring, loving hands.

I went to your site read everything about Mimosa. What a beautiful little girl! Have you ever tried dandelion capsules or drops with any of your babies? It is supposed to be helpful in balancing the digestive system. I give this to Bailey when she has stomach issues. Not sure of how it will work with kitties, just a thought.

In the meantime, sending belly rubs, scritches and kisses to Mimosa.

Love,

Oh, Bendy, I am hoping my very best for dear Mimosa. Mimosa has been through so very much. Hugs for your mama today, Bendy, tell her we are all thinking of your furry family.

Have you asked your vet about reglan anti-nausea syrup and/or pepcid antacid? I have had good results with both of those.

she likes scritches sometimes, but i'll take the smoochies and bellyrubs.

thanks so much for all the good thoughts!

Has doc come up with an anti-emetic? I have lost half my stomach, my vegus nerve and part of small intestine and have a lot of vomiting and other lovely things I live with. But I try to keep an anti-vomitting thing handy, or cola. Remember StarrAncientCat stopped eating and was on an eight day experiment in how long a cat can live? I smeared baby food on her - a tip I got from H-cap (she was fastidious) and tried everything humanly possible. She simply would not eat. When she was on sub-q 2x a day, unable to stand or breathe, I took her to my son, so she could die with him (he would not allow me to put her to sleep and the vet would not - I went to my friends at the shelter to ask them if they would help me out) she made a full recovery. She outlived her boy, and he being terribly averse to needles (he spent his short life in hospitals) would NOT sub-q her, would not look at the needles i brought over. She made a full recovery.
I pray your Mimosa does too, but one thing I am so very thankful for is that MIMOSA FOUND YOUR FAMILY! How lucky has she been? What a wonderful life you have given her!
The pastel is Andy's drawing of Starr when he was a child.

Reglan comes in injectable, too.
