dirty carpets

Post by marilynb »

I was wondering if anyone has used urine off on their carpets? This product is supposed to be good at removing old urine stains. Please let me know, and also I would like to know if it works.
Thanks,

Why, no, I haven't. Protein based work pretty well, the little creatures eat the bacteria, which as i understand it is what causes the stink. Lemme know! :D

I have used Urine Off, I used it when my Jasmine was a puppy. And I did not like it, it did not seem to remove the urine from the floor. There was still an urine odor even after using Urine Off on the spot more than once, and it did not stop her from going back to that spot and going again . When we moved we had the carpet cleaned and then we still had to remove it and put new down. I think it made the spots stand more out. I really like the Resolve Pet carpet cleaner, it seems to take care of any spots on the first try and the odor goes away.

Have you 'bought your SpotBot' yet? A beautiful thing. And it scrubs and scrubs and draws up and cleans. I use a variety of mixes in there and because I like the smell of clean, I'll use a drop of Mr. Clean or Pinesol in with my carpet cleaner. I picked up some fancy schmancy stuff at a dog show a couple of years ago, beastly expensive, a drop was supposed to do the job. A half gallon didn't do the job. So I'm back to resolve & whatever other new product comes out.

I've used 2 enzyme cleaners for urine, Nature's Miracle and Simple Solution, and I like Nature's Miracle better for not leaving a ring. I've used regular Resolve foam for various kinds of organic pet stains and it works, then leaves a ring on my light carpet. I've had ServiceMaster, ChemDry, and Blackmon Mooring steam clean the carpet and Blackmon Mooring was by far the best, then ChemDry, then ServiceMaster.

Hi CarolC thank you for your input on the dirty carpet.I have used so much of Natures Mircle and it didn't even touch the old stains. I have never heard about the three cleaning services you mentioned. I live in Massachuchetts USA,where do you live? I have heard of Stanley Steamer, although I don"t know anyone that has used this company.

Thanks again,

As far as I know, Stanley Steemer is fine. I had them years ago and the only complaint I remember having was they drove their van across my front walk to get it closer to the door (I was afraid they'd crack the concrete of the sidewalk). You might call them or another company and see what they say about pet stains. You might also ask them if they have a policy that you can call them back to redo a spot if it isn't clean. Sometimes the carpet looks clean but you notice a spot when it dries. I think most of the companies will tell you they can't get out some pet stains, then in spite of that they do a pretty good job, at least it's better than it was. I think a lot of the difference between the carpet companies is not so much the equipment but the guys running it, like whether they try to do the job too fast. I am looking at buying a carpet steamer because I spend $130 or more every 6 months and it would pay for itself. You can also rent one at the grocery store (at least here you can) and I've heard they work well, only I don't want to try to lift the machine in and out of the car. I have a light berber carpet, I do not know if it is different for a pile or deep pile rug.

Last year, I got Gabriel a puppy for Christmas and got me a BIG steam cleaner. I paid about $150 for it. My old one didn't last a couple of years, but yet, you still get you money's worth. This big one does great... hang on, let me crawl through the flooded closet and see what it is...Hoover SteamVac

I have a Hoover steam vac, i is about 13 yrs old, it doesn't seem to do any good. I use the hoover vac carpet upholstery detergent,do you use this too? Do you add anything with it? Any ideas will be helpful.

Try doing a water rinse after the shampoo, and then do either a pretreat water rinse with enzyme solution added, or do a post-wash rinse with enzyme solution. Either way works pretty well.

I had a Spot Bot but it is too small for how well it works... it left little clean circles!

Thank you Bobbie for your advice. I was wondering how long you waited before doing the water rinse? Thanks again
