Lymphoma Cancer Diagnosed

Post by C & R's mom »

You may remember my posts in September about Roscoe and his condition and when to know when it was time. I really appreciated everyone's help and support through out his ending time. I can't believe I'm back here again, so soon, but here we are. You may remember when I spoke of our first dog, whom my husband adopted at 6 month (Caramel). Well, today we got the terrible news that Caramel has Lyphoma. He'd been exhibiting some signs that we thought were just old age (he's just turned 17) and he was about due for some vaccinations and since we were there for another reason Tues. night (we've recently adopted a new girl - senior but healthy and still relatively young: http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=425219&j=t), we made an appointment. His exrays showed several lumps some of which were pressing on his trachea which was causing the coughing. We've done some research on the web and have concluded that the reason our vet didn't suggest treatment was because of his age and advanced conditition. He said 3 to 6 months, but the research on the website suggests as little as 2 weeks. I don't really have a question - I guess I'm just venting. But if anyone has experience with this disease and has some insight or advice, it is certainly welcome!

Gee, I'm sorry. I don't know much about lymphoma, but you might try VetPet, whose address is in the cancer treatment article I posted. There are no guarantees of responses, but it's free.

Oh, Caramel & Roscoe's mom, I am so sorry! Neither do I have any experience, but please know that we are here for you on this horrible journey.
One thing I do know for certain, and that is that C & R got the best parents in the world! They found you and that day was the brightest in their lives.

I too am very sorry to hear of the lymphoma diagnosis. I'm sorry I have nothing to offer as far as treatments or therapies.
Here in Houston we have an animal hospital that has an oncology department. Do you have a big hospital like that? Maybe you could take Carmel for a second opinion?

Congrats on your new addition. The link took me to the Dogster;s page, but not to your dog. Do you have a pictue?

Hugs,
Cindi
I am not a vet; please consult your vet before making any treatment decisions.
