personality change in small dog with head injury?

Post by Lester »

Hello everyone just wanted to let everyone know that HOBO is doing better now. Last visit to the vet he is deaf in his left ear and blind in his left eye. What concerns me is a personality change he was a happy go lucky puppy who loved kids who now snaps and tries to bite them when they get close. I suppose this is from the injury he sustained. I keep reassuring him that he is loved but he seems to just want to be left alone. Which I can't seem to bring my self to do. If anyone has any ideas on this please leave a message and I will try it. We have come to far to quit now. I haven't given up on him yet and not going to now.

It is so good to hear from you again, Lester. Hobo has a fear-based anxiety/aggression. Do not let anyone approach him on his blind/deaf side. They are surprising him and that is a no-no.
There are bound to be changes in his personality, but one thing I would suggest is your daily silliness, happiness, joyfulness, and Hobo will pick up on your delight. Is he still in pain? Can you tell? What does doc say? He may be going through a 'normal adjustment' to his 'new normal', but I would ask doc just to be sure. Can you post a photo of Hobo?
Welcome back! :)
