Saved! Rescue is needed for a kitten with Manx syndrome

Post by Inna W »

]My friend and I rescued a family of cats from a bad situation. Very young mama cat had 5 kittens. Four of the kittens will be taken to the Humane Society in Charlotte for their foster program (arrangements already made). Mama cat is very sweet and friendly, she will be spayed and we will try to adopt her out. Unfortunately, one of the kittens is special needs....It breaks our hearts because the kitten is full of energy and does not suspect that something is wrong with her.

We are looking for a rescue which would accept a very sweet 6-week-old special needs kitten with Manx syndrome. We took her to the vet today to get her X-rays done. She is an adorable kitten who is very active and playful. Our special kitty is named "Happy Feet". She was born with no tail and some deformity in her lower spine. She moves well but drags her hind legs. Although her hips work and we notice some movement in her legs. The doctor says that Happy Feet has incontinence and would most likely need to wear a diaper. Extra care would be needed to keep her clean to avoid UTI. She might need her bladder and colon to be stimulated to avoid constipation. Some laxatives or pumpkin can be used to help with that. If you can accept this very special girl to your rescue, it would be a miracle that we are hoping for. Please contact us with any questions. We will cover the cost of initial vetting or make a donation to your rescue.

She’s adorable! :hearts: I would suggest trying as many groups, etc. as you can. For example, there are several FB groups for disabled cats and sanctuaries that are at least open to handicappers, like Best Friends in Utah. I don’t know about NC in particular, but Rikki’s Refuge in Virginia might be willing to take the baby. There’s also a rescuer in NC who may chime in with more suggestions.

Good luck!!

I used to belong to this group, although it may’ve been an email one at the time. https://m.facebook.com/groups/CatsWithParalysis/

Did you mean share your post here with people on another platform? The URL for your post here would be

Code: Select all

https://handicappedpet.net/helppets/viewtopic.php?p=116509#p116509
so you could paste that into your message on another platform. Anyone who clicks the link will be able to read it.
