wheelchair for parakeet?

Post by catnipfamily »

I have a parakeet whom we rescued from our cat's mouth. Sunshine in unable to walk, balance, or perch, but he has gained the ability to move his legs. The vet said initially that he was paralyzed, but now with seeing him move his legs and stand if we help balance him I'm wondering if anyone could help us find or design a scooter for him. We do a type of physical therapy for him everyday and he's adapted and unbelieveably fast, but we're hoping he'll regain strength. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

:slant: You can see some ideas for bird wheels around this board. It seems to me that the hardest part would be making one small enough for a 'keet? Ducks can use PVC carts, but maybe a keet would need Legos or the like? I can't remember this ever coming up before!

I don't remember anyone doing one that tiny either, but you might be able to scale down a bigger one.
Here is a website that might give some ideas, great website. :D
