Constipation

I noticed accidentally that my cats anus is protruding. I figured it was hemroids and gave him soft food and olive oil yesterday and today. I've been following him around the house all day today to see if he poops. There was poop in the litter box when I got up this morning, but so far I've personally only noticed my other two cats poop today. I'm going to get pumpkin tomorrow but I don't know how long it's been since he pooped and I'm worried. I think his anus is less swollen and it doesn't appear red (good news), but I need to know how long a cat can go without having a bowl movement and if I should continue to worry about his anus. My cat's name is Boo, he rarely gets sick and he's barely 14. Please help me!
